Baptisms

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit"

- Matthew 28:19

Embracing baptism is more than a symbolic act; it's the start of an exhilarating Christian journey.

We at St. Peter's can't wait to help you begin your faith journey. Remember, as you take this step of faith, baptism is not the end but rather the beautiful beginning of a lifelong adventure with Christ.

We offer baptism at both St Peter's and St Luke's. This will usually occur during one of our services. We warmly encourage a "practice" which is held a few days before the date of baptism and will be arranged with one of the clergy members.

Wedding

"Be devoted to one another in love. Honour one another above yourselves."

Romans 12:10

A wedding is not just a day; it's the beginning of a lifetime journey of love, commitment, and partnership.

At St. Peter's, we are honored to be part of your special day, helping you craft memories that will last a lifetime. We understand the significance of this sacred union and are dedicated to making your wedding day as beautiful and memorable as the love story it celebrates. Join us, and let's embark on this beautiful journey together.

We offer weddings at both St Peter's and St Luke's.

A Church Wedding:

Can work well with only a few people or with a large crowd
Is in a public space that can be revisited in years to come
Can be very simple or elaborate
Has a Christian and supportive context.

Wedding Arrangements

The style of the wedding is shaped by the couple as they will choose the words that best suit their situation. A New Zealand Prayer Book – He Karakia Mihinare o Aotearoa, is an excellent resource for putting together a wedding booklet. Time with the clergy will help to plan the wedding service.
Weddings can be arranged with music from a variety of sources – organ music, MP3, instrumentalists, soloists, singing groups, choirs.
Flowers: These are planned with the people who decorate the church for Sunday worship and can incorporate special colour requests.
Practice: A walk through the wedding service helps both the clergy and the couple to ensure the wedding will flow smoothly.

Funerals

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted."

Matthew 5:10

There is no easy or simple way through grief – it’s a healing process that often requires one step at a time. Grief often means feeling that we are completely alone, that no-one is there for us, and there is an awareness that even God seems to have deserted us.

God often works through the loving actions of people who may be our family, friends and colleagues. Both St Peter’s and St Luke’s are spaces that are available for prayer and support as we seek to be a people of community and compassion.

We offer funeral services at both St Peter's and St Luke's.

Funeral Arrangements

The words of the service: The Anglican Funeral Service from A New Zealand Prayer Book – He Karakia Mihinare o Aoteraroa provides the structure around different readings, prayers, music and visual displays that can be included.

Music: Funerals need to have the music that is appropriate to both the person who has died and to the community who will gather. Music could be – organ music, MP3, instrumental, bagpipes, soloists, singing groups or choirs.

Garden of Remembrance: There are no longer any plots available for sale in the St Peter’s graveyard. However, we now have a Garden of Remembrance near the front of the church and plots are for sale here with ashes being poured into the ground beside a plaque.

Building Hires
